A few things worth understanding
before you turn the dial.
Leverage multiplies your market exposure. At 10×, $1,000 of margin represents $10,000 of exposure. A 1% move changes that position’s value by about $100, in either direction, before fees and funding. It does not guarantee a return.
Isolated margin assigns collateral to an individual position. This separates how that position is margined from the rest of your book. The collateral assigned to it remains at risk if the market moves against you.
Perpetual positions can have periodic funding payments between long and short sides. The rate can change, and the cost or credit depends on the position. The dial above shows exposure only; it does not include funding or trading fees.
A position can be closed when its remaining margin no longer meets maintenance requirements. Higher leverage gives the position less room for an adverse move. Exact thresholds depend on the market, margin rules, fees and funding.
